Facility Requirements for Hyperpolarization Systems

  • Space:
    - 7 x 10 sq-ft, for proper clearance and operation
  • Power:
    - Polarizer: 3 Phase 208 V US standard (47/63 Hz) / 20 A per phase
    - Measurement station: 115 V US standard (60 Hz) / 20 A
  • Compressed Air:
    - Pressure > 20 psi,
    - Moisture < 0.01%
  • Laser precautions:
    - Polarizer has a Class 1 laser device in an enclosed housing;
    - maintenance should only be performed by trained personnel.
  • Laser precautions:
    - Dry N2 gas cylinder
    - UHP N2 (99.995%) gas cylinder
    - Xenon gas mixture cylinder (1% Xe, 10% N2 and He balance) for Xenon polarizers
    - Helium gas mixture cylinder (98% 3He, 2% N2) for Helium polarizers
  • Liquid N2 (for Xenon polarizers only)
    - Cryogenic transfer dewar (4 L recommended)
